The Blender workshop at Dwarkadas J. Sanghvi College Of Engineering was conducted by the Blender team at Project OSCAR. It was a two day workshop. As per the schedule on first day workshop begin at 1:30pm and it ended at 5:30 pm, 72 students were present. Second day of the workshop begin at 9:30 am and it ended at 5:00 pm, 67 students attended the second day of the workshop.

We decided to teach them the basics of 3D Modeling, Material, Lighting, Animation and Game Engine. To teach the Blender User Interface we used Blender Video tutorials which have been made for Spoken tutorial Project. Spoken tutorial session was less interactive and feedback for the session was mix. Other sessions were live hands on practice conducted by Nitin, Sneha and Arun.

In Modeling, Animation and Game engine session separate exercise were also assigned. Modeling exercise was chess pawn model, Animation exercise was coin flip animation and in Game engine six different games were given as exercise, one to each student.

Before the animation session we showed Big Buck Bunny short film made in Blender, which actually shows power and capability of the Blender Software.

After the end of the second day’s session we showed animation of Distillation Column and 3D models of Physics, chemical lab Instruments from Project OSCAR repository and animations, which shows how Blender can also be used for e-learning purposes and content development.
