Water falling in a glass bowl (revisited)

I remember doing my 1st blender fluid simulation of a water sphere falling inside a water mug. its been a long time since then and i have decided to go back to basics for the ammonia experiment. I just realised that i can use single walled meshes for my flasks and trough instead of the agonizingly complex double walled mesh we are used to creating as blender isnt able to calculate the necessary fluid simulation co-ordinates when fluid is to flow inside or outside the object. But if the init shell option is turned on for an object acting as an obstacle then this difficulty can be overcome. That is what i have done in the following simulation. i made a simple uv sphere , cut it open in half and let it remain a single walled semi circular shapped flask. then i poured fluid into it. the uv sphere acts as obstacle with init shell option turned on. the domain is as usual a big cube. the following picture shows the mesh :
the result is as shown in the video :

this is an interesting development i believe , because if we manage to work with single walled meshes , then our work is reduced to half. its like suppose the project was to one has to count all the leaves in a given tree , then i guess this discovery is analogous to that of finding out that the tree is perfectly symmetrical along one of the axis which efectively reduces the work by half.

SIMPLE HAND PUMP COMPLETE

We are happy to announce that we have finished one complete animation from http://www.arvindguptatoys.com/ as Shridhar Sir had asked us. We are uploading the screenshots and the video. We are simultaneously working on other similar animations and will put them up in due course time.


Integrating three different dynamic objects namely:
1. Movement of handle in game engine
2. Movement of water inside bucket
3. Movement of water from nozzle

Game Engine With Liquid Simulation !!! CRACKED




This is the video rendered after cracking the problem we had , which prevented us from using both the game engine and the fluid simulation module in blender.
this video shows both game engine working and the fluid simulation working simultaneosly.

this is a big break through for us and hopefully we can now work faster with our project..

Water Material Specs.

Its a relief Gokul and Karan have cracked the (rather non-existent) problem with the tank and water creation..So, great work guys..
Here's the material specifications for water:

RAY MIRROR:
RayMirr: 0.56
Fresnel: 0.8
FAC: 2.62

RAY TRANS:
IOR: 1.21
Fresnel: 0 <---- Very important if you want a coloured liquid.
FAC: 2.62

SHADERS:
Ref: 1
(CookTor)Spec: 2
Hard: 32
Tralu: 0.34
Enable TraShad as well.

For the colours I used a dark one for the Col value
A lighter one for the Spe value
And true white for the Mir one.

Set the Alpha value at 0.355

Water in a Glass Tank

Water problem SOLVED!

As predicted the solution to our problem of not being able to color the 'baked' water was an annoyingly simple one. It was a problem with the machine and not what we did. Gokul's and my Pc both letting us color the fluid after it is baked. So what we were doing was right. The only thing to remember is it doesnt matter what changes you make to the fluid before you bake it. After you bake, it does not retain the changes. So bake the fluid on default settings and change the color and texture after it is baked. Works like a peach.
An entire hard days of work solved in a matter of seconds at home!

Water

In our next meet our mentor advised us to try and create water since we had already found out how to create glass. He also said that it would better if we found how to create water inside glass it would be nice..

Nitin, Chirag and me(Kaeyur) sat down to crack this problem and figure out how to get this. For this we registered on a forum called nystic.com. This is an online forum for Blender Artists and we posted our problem online. We were helped immensely by the advice given by the forum members who appear vastly experienced in using Blender. They told us what setting to use and how to use it and so we created the following.

The rendering of this file took a staggering 3 hours and the final product was as follows


As we can see, it does look very much like water inside a glass tumbler. The reflection also looks as if it is water!!

This was another significant breakthrough and we could now make glass as well as water which are very essential to animate experiments..
